Ed Ruscha’s Every Building on the Sunset Strip is a 25-foot long accordion-fold book in which he took a photo of every building on the sunset strip and stitched them together. I wondered what this piece looked like as a performance in 2012. Using Rusha’s book as my score, I performed “Every Building on the Sunset Strip'” using Google Street View. The choice to show video of me next to the screen capture of Street View was made so the each could be seen as a character in a story, exploring the narrative of Street View.
This piece was included in Directed: The Intersection of Book, Film and Visual Narrative, an exhibition at Minnesota Center for Book Arts in 2013.
